HEX-TEX TAKEOVER – MILAN TRENDS ’17

As much as the circle was revisited as a core matrix of design, the number of pentagonal and hexagonal surfaces and motifs this year was simply staggering. Textiles from bed linens to quilted fabrics, table forms and even eyewear from both Ann&Valentin and Linda Farrow threw hexagons. You couldn’t have missed this aesthetic language exploding across the design stage. Even Milanese fashion designer Antony Morato and design doyenne Silvia Gallotti were snapped wearing the style during the fair!

Ivanoredaelli released two new bedding collections with subtle hex patterns. Umberto Asnago quilted Mariani’s famous hides in to hexagons on his new Moore chair. Unopiu dressed Australia landscape design royalty, Jamie Durie’s new Camp Cot day bed in hexagonal outdoor throws. The shape-shifting Ravel pendant by Oriano Favaretto is a hexagon that intersects itself to rise and fall over a dining table within its’ own drop… The list was endless… Hex, hive, pent… anything ending with “gon” or “dron”…
